What Are Carrots Service Fees?

To help Carrots run smoothly and to cover the costs of the products and services we provide, like maintenance and development of the market place and 24/7 customer support, we charge a service fee when a Purchase is confirmed.

Fees for Purchasing products

We have two different service fee structures for Purchases: split-fee where both Farmers and Shoppers pay a service fee, and Shopper-only fee where only the Shopper pays a service fee.

  1. Split-fee

This fee structure is the most common. A service fee is deducted from the Farmer payout, and a service fee is charged to Shoppers.

Farmer service fee

Most Farmers pay a service fee of 3%,.This fee is calculated from the Purchase subtotal (the total of all Product listings in the basket, but excluding delivery fees, driver tips, Carrots fees and taxes) and is automatically deducted from the Farmer payout.

To review the service fee charged for a particular order:

  1. Go to Transaction history
  2. Next to the order that you want to review, select the order code
  3. Under Payout, you'll find the Carrots Service Fee

Shopper service fee

Most Shoppers pay a service fee that is under 14.2% of the Purchase subtotal (the total of all Product listings in the basket, but excluding delivery fees, driver tips, Carrots fees and taxes). The fee varies based on a variety of Purchase factors and is displayed to Shoppers, including during checkout before they book a reservation.

VAT charges on service fees

Depending on the laws of the jurisdiction involved, VAT may be charged on top of the Farmer and Shopper service fee. The service fee will include these VAT charges when applicable.
